An organization to help kids with a handicap

Community center Motýlek (Butterfly)

This organization officially started to help kids with a handicap and their families. We believe that they deserve respect and support. We try to be close to them and help them. Over time parents with small children (even without handicaps), parents with babies at home but also children and teens, which live in a socially endangering environment.

Over time these are our three main projects:

• Center for day services
• Day care
• Low pass Pacific club

 

Center for day services (CDS)

A handicap for children usually influences life for all members of the family. At this organization we try for these families to live a normal life and for the parents to not only focus on solving the health problem of the child, but for them to also focus on developing their social skills and involvement in society. Benefit of CD’S for kids with handicap is a possibility to spend time in a children’s group without the company of parents, for example, it is not obvious for children with mental retardation or autism. We compensate this opportunity for these children and we provide a similar opportunity for them to spent time in the expansion of skills, realization of interests and to have the opportunity to be with their peers.

CD’S attend children and adolescents from 2 years old to 18 years old from Prague and suburban of Prague, which face the consequences of health problems:

• They have impaired self sufficiency
• They need to enhance their proficiency
• They lack the opportunity of developing their interests
• They have a limited opportunity to be with their peers

 

For example kids with mental or the combination of a handicap and autism.

The services are not designated for children affected by sense perception.

Currently we are offering clients these activities: preschool education and integration to the child’s society, individualized developing of self-sufficient and proficiency, speech therapy, music therapy, drama therapy, pottery, canistoterapy, afternoon clubs, swimming, recondition stays including professional agenda. (it is possible to use one or more activities).

 

The Clients pays for the services according the pricelist of CDS.

 

Parental Center

Mission of the Parental Center

In the parental center Motylek  ( Butterfly) we are creating a non formal space for friendly meetings of parents with small children thereby prevent their social elimination.

Here we provide them a place to spend their free time actively, gain and exchange experiences and stimulate the education of their children.

Target group

The parental center Motylek (Butterfly) provides services for parents with children, children of early age, and preschool children from the subdivision of Cerny Most and neighborhood. The services are designated also for families taking care of children with a handicap.

The parental center Motylek is a full member of the system of parental centers from which we got the acknowledgment  ,, Society  of friendly family,,.

Our parental center is equipped with the needs of children. The building is surrounded by a garden with a playground; it is located approximately 150 meters from a barer free subway station Rajska zahrada it’s in a quiet part of the neighborhood of Cerny Most. The whole facility is wheelchair accessible and quite spacious. There is a cloak room available for visitors, a specious playroom, a kitchen, an art studio, restrooms, including a kids bathroom and sinks. In Motylek (Butterfly) families will find everything that they need for their stay. We have wheelchair access for wheelchairs or strollers, an area for the storage of strollers, a changing table, a potty, a microwave for kids meals, kids dishes, a crib, and a high chair for feeding.

 

 

Low pass facilities for children and youth –,,Club Pacific,,

Services of Low pass club are designated for children and youth, who are spending their free time wondering in the streets, in the group without any organization. The club can visit all children and youth  – from honored children from the High School to “skaters” ,confessors of the alternate fashion of life, to  ,,the trouble makers,,.The club is free time alternation together with different  hobby group and others activity with the organization, plus it provides counseling and social services.

With visitors of the club social workers approach the contract, provide the assistance, and in case of need provides also professional help to assist and solve the indisposed social situation, and lastly, it’s very positively influenced in their life style.

The club is open every day till evening hours and all the services are provided for free.  The visit rate yearly is approximately 350 clients.

Low pass club Pacific is a member of the Czech Association street work unific  low pass social services.
